Concerning Excess Mortality Rates

Recent data analysis published in BMJ Public Health reveals that excess mortality rates have remained alarmingly high in the West for the past three years since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the implementation of containment measures and the availability of vaccines, the persistently high rates of excess deaths have raised serious concerns among researchers. The study encompassed 47 countries across Europe, North America, Australia, and New Zealand, emphasizing the urgent need for thorough investigations into the root causes of this ongoing crisis.

Impact of the Pandemic Response

The research aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of responses to the health crisis triggered by the pandemic, focusing on excess deaths that surpassed the expected numbers from January 2020 to December 2022. The statistical method utilized, known as Karlinsky and Kobak's estimate model, accounted for historical death data, seasonal variations, and demographic shifts. The total number of excess deaths recorded was 3,098,456, highlighting the severity of the situation despite the various measures taken.
