The researchers emphasized the need for governments to thoroughly investigate the root causes, including potential vaccine-related harms. The study, published in BMJ Public Health by authors from Vrije Universiteit, Amsterdam, highlighted the serious concerns raised by the unprecedented figures. They noted that although Covid vaccines were intended to protect against the virus, reports of adverse events have been documented. The study revealed that millions of people were vaccinated during the pandemic, yet there were still concerning numbers of excess deaths reported across Europe, the US, and Australia.
