Protect Your Yard from Tick Infestation: Tips and Tricks

Protect Your Yard from Tick Infestation: Tips and Tricks
-advertisment-

Tick season is here and absolutely no one wants ticks crawling on themselves or their pets. While not all ticks carry the same diseases, at least one variety of disease-transmitting tick can be found in almost every state. Follow these tips from Consumer Reports expert Paul Hope to make your yard less hospitable for ticks. Firstly, trim tall grass and weeds and keep the lawn short to reduce tick presence. Then, get rid of leaf piles, clear out gutters, and pay attention to the trees on your property, cutting low-hanging branches. Consider creating a mulch moat around your property as one more physical barrier against ticks. Always remember to do a tick check on your family before going back inside and use a repellent with 25 to 30 percent Deet for reliable protection against ticks and mosquitoes.
