Germany's UEFA Euro 2024 Preparation in Bavaria

Germany's UEFA Euro 2024 base camp, located in the Bavarian village of Herzogenaurach, is aimed at invoking the successful spirit of their 2014 World Cup victory. This picturesque village with a population of over 20,000 has significant historical ties to sport and football in Germany. The Herzogenaurach base is designed to foster camaraderie and team spirit, much like the Campo Bahia base in Brazil, which played a crucial role in the team's previous successes.

Former team director Oliver Bierhoff, a Euro 1996 winner, collaborated with Adidas to develop the tournament base known as the 'Home Ground'. The camp is intended to instill determination and a winning mindset in the players. Herzogenaurach, also known as "the town of bent necks," has a unique history related to the founding of sportswear giants Adidas and Puma by brothers Adolf and Rudolf Dassler.

Adidas, a longtime partner of the German national team, made significant contributions to the team's success over the years. However, the DFB's decision to switch to Nike in 2027 sparked controversy. Adidas has since focused on enhancing the team's training facilities and living quarters at the Home Ground, ensuring the players feel comfortable and supported.

The Euro 2024 kit, featuring a pink-purple design, has become a fan favorite and a best-selling away shirt. Despite the impending departure of the team's partnership with Adidas, the players feel at home in the updated facilities. The camp provides various amenities, including office spaces, meeting rooms, dining areas, fitness facilities, and a common area for recreational activities.

The players, including veterans like Manuel Neuer, Toni Kroos, and Thomas Mueller, have embraced the camp's environment, engaging in games, watching matches, and bonding with their teammates. The accommodation is strategically organized by player positions, allowing for a conducive environment for teamwork and camaraderie. As the team prepares for UEFA Euro 2024, the Herzogenaurach base serves as a vital hub for their training and preparation, reflecting Germany's commitment to excellence in football.
