Las Cruces 4th of July Celebration

The City of Las Cruces announced its annual 4th of July Celebration schedule, which includes a free two-day event starting on July 3. The festivities kick off with the Electric 5k and One-mile Fun Run, followed by the Electric Light Parade. The parade's theme this year is Rockin in the USA, and it will begin at Apodaca Park and finish at the Maag Softball Complex. Additionally, the City and New Mexico State University (NMSU) will host the annual Fourth of July Concert and Fireworks display at Pat and Lou Sisbarro Community Park.

Fireworks Restrictions in Las Cruces

While many are looking forward to the colorful firework displays on Independence Day, Las Cruces has implemented restrictions due to extreme drought conditions. The city has banned missile-type rockets, helicopters, aerial spinners, stick-type rockets, and ground audible devices like chasers and firecrackers through July 6. Although Doña Ana County is also facing drought conditions, the Commissioners decided not to implement increased fireworks restrictions. Firework stands with permits are only allowed to sell legal fireworks in Las Cruces and surrounding areas.

Keeping the Community Safe

Fire Chief Danny Medrano emphasized the importance of enjoying fireworks safely, especially in extreme drought conditions. The fire department will be conducting regular patrols to ensure that people are using fireworks in a safe manner. It is crucial to prevent wildfires and reduce the potential for damage to structures by following the guidelines set by the city and county. Technologies in building fireworks have improved over the years, making them safer to enjoy. However, it is essential to follow the rules and regulations to avoid any accidents.

Fourth of July Events and Firework Safety

As the Fourth of July approaches, residents of Las Cruces are gearing up for a weekend of celebrations. From the Electric Light Parade to the annual fireworks display, there are plenty of activities to enjoy with family and friends. Remember to check the list of banned fireworks in the area and adhere to safety guidelines while celebrating Independence Day. By following the rules and regulations set by the city and county, everyone can have a fun and safe holiday.
