Tulsa Premium Outlets Opening Soon in Jenks

JENKS Construction on Tulsa Premium Outlets is almost complete. The more than 340,000-square-foot outlet mall, which opens at 10 a.m. Aug. 15, will host more than 75 retailers and several fast-casual eateries. Amenities include a 20,000-square-foot childrens play area, a fire pit, a fountain and other gathering spaces.

Tulsa Premium Outlets is expected to create approximately 800 jobs, according to Gary Duncan, president of The Mills and Simon Premium Outlets. Duncan said Wednesday during a tour of the site that more than 1,000 workers contributed to the construction of the project. Tulsa Premium Outlets will have more than 2,000 parking spaces for guests and employees.

This is absolutely a game-changer for the city of Jenks, said Cory Box, Jenks mayor. Box reflected on Jenks history as he stood in the middle of the nearly finished outlet mall on Wednesday. He recalled a time when Jenks Public Schools was what made the city. He said building the Jenks levees changed everything and that building the Oklahoma Aquarium marked the beginning of growing Jenks into a destination city. Now, Tulsa Premium Outlets is expected to draw out-of-towners from neighboring cities and states to Jenks. Box said there is development discussion within the city involving three-quarters of a billion dollars.

I can tell you that there's no definitive plan for a hotel, but I would also say that I can't imagine this River District without at least one hotel that typically has a convention space, maybe an Embassy Suites type of environment, where people would come in and have their conferences and be a part of the shopping experience, Box said. So it's not for sure, but I can't imagine that not happening.

Job Fair for Tulsa Premium Outlets Retail Stores

Tulsa Premium Outlets will be opening soon in Jenks and on Thursday, June 27 there will be a job fair for those wanting to work at the retail stores. The retailer job fair will be at the Jenks Chamber Ranch Building and is open for anyone interested in applying for full-time, part-time, and management positions. Leaders said the outlet mall will generate approximately 800 jobs.

Gary Duncan is the President of Simon Premium Outlets and said the goal of this job fair is to ensure there are enough employees to work once the center opens on August 15. For the most part we have to fully staff up, and so this is the best way, one-stop shop. But (it's) also for the people in the market to decide if they would rather work at a certain store or maybe they have a certain affinity for footwear or apparel. So, it offers them the opportunity to talk to the retailers, as well as the retailers to find the employees that they need to officially operate," Duncan said. The job fair starts Thursday morning, June 27 at 9 a.m. and runs until 7 p.m.
