Apple Watch users can now activate Night Shift on their devices by simply asking Siri, as recently discovered by a Reddit user. Night Shift, which reduces blue light exposure by giving the display a warmer, dimmer hue, can be turned on through Siri's command on the Apple Watch.

A key point to note is that Night Shift activation through Siri is a hidden feature on the Apple Watch, with no official documentation or mention by Apple regarding this functionality. The feature was not initially available on watchOS 10, and its availability on watchOS 11 is uncertain.

Interestingly, Night Shift activation is exclusive to Siri, as there is no direct toggle in the Apple Watch Settings app or any other location on the device to enable this feature. While Siri references scheduling Night Shift in the Settings app, this option is currently unavailable on both watchOS 10 and watchOS 11.

Reddit users have reported that Night Shift cannot be activated on older Apple Watch models such as the Series 5 and below, suggesting that this feature may be limited to newer devices only. However, the ability to activate Night Shift through Siri without additional settings hints that this feature may have been unintentionally introduced and could potentially receive a dedicated toggle in future watchOS updates.

According to a recent report by Macrumours, Apple has not officially announced Night Shift for the Apple Watch, but the hidden functionality of activating it through Siri points towards a possible full-fledged Night Shift experience in the future. This could be a part of Apple's strategy to gradually introduce and test new features before fully implementing them on their devices.

In addition to the Night Shift discovery, Apple has confirmed that watchOS 11 will be released in the fall as a free software update for Apple Watch Series 6 and later models paired with iPhone Xs or newer devices running iOS 18. This update is expected to bring significant improvements and new features to enhance the overall user experience of Apple Watch users.
