IceCure Medical Ltd, an Israeli company, has developed an innovative technology using Cryotherapy to freeze and destroy tumors. This method provides a minimally invasive solution for both benign and cancerous tumors. In a recent kidney cancer trial, the company achieved promising results, showing that their platform is a safe and effective treatment for malignant kidney tumors, boasting a recurrence-free rate of 89.5%. These findings were shared at the Annual Israeli Interventional Radiology Conference held in Tel Aviv on June 10.

Sarel Halachmi, the principal investigator of the clinical trial, emphasized that cryoablation is a safe and effective method for treating renal cell carcinoma, especially for tumors measuring 3 centimeters or less. This approach results in a shorter hospital stay compared to nephrectomy and has fewer side effects on kidney function and hemoglobin levels. However, further studies are required to solidify cryoablation as a viable treatment option for kidney conditions.

Moreover, IceCure Medical's CEO, Eyal Shamir, expressed satisfaction with the positive reception of the data by interventional radiologists attending the conference from various parts of the world, as well as locally in Israel. The company's ICESECRET kidney cancer trial data was presented at the 3rd Annual Israeli Conference on Interventional Radiology in Tel Aviv on June 10, 2024. Dr. Avivit Shoham, Deputy Director of the Vascular and Interventional Radiology Unit at Beilinson Rabin Medical Center, discussed Cryotherapy of Renal Malignancies in Israel during the conference, highlighting data previously shared in December 2022 at the Urological Association Conference in Eilat.

IceCure Medical continues to make strides in the field of medicine with its innovative Cryotherapy technology. The results of their kidney cancer trials showcase the potential of cryoablation as a safe and effective treatment for renal cell carcinoma, offering hope to patients with this type of neoplasm. With ongoing research and development, the company aims to further establish cryoablation as a viable option for treating kidney tumors, ultimately improving patient outcomes and quality of life.
