Product Recall for Vitamix Blender Components

Vitamix recently issued a voluntary recall for certain blender components due to a potential safety risk. The recall includes the 8-ounce blending containers, 20-ounce blending containers, and blade bases from the Ascent and Venturist Series. There is a risk that the blending cups and bowls may separate from the blade base, exposing the blades and potentially leading to laceration accidents.

Products Affected by the Recall

The affected products include Vitamix Ascent and Venturist Series 8-Ounce Blending Bowls, 20-Ounce Blending Cups, and Blade Bases. These components are part of models such as Venturist V1200, Ascent A2300, Ascent A2500, Ascent A3300, and Ascent A3500. The recall, initiated on June 20th, 2024, impacts approximately 569,000 units sold in the US and 121,590 units sold in Canada between April 2017 and May 2024.

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) reported 27 cases of lacerations related to these products, with 11 incidents from a previous recall in 2018. Customers who purchased these items from retailers like Costco, Best Buy, Crate & Barrel, Macys, and others are encouraged to check if their products are part of the recall.

Per the CPSC, prices for the recalled Vitamix products ranged from $30 to $990. Owners are advised to stop using the affected components immediately and visit the dedicated recall website for more information. Regardless of having proof of purchase, all owners are eligible to receive a free replacement kit from Vitamix.

Repair Process for Recalled Products

Owners of the recalled Vitamix products should visit the recall website to enter serial numbers from the blades to determine if they need a repair kit. The kit includes labels for the containers and the base, along with a shroud for added protection against accidental separations. The website also offers a video demonstration to guide owners through the repair process, ensuring the safety of the blender components.

In conclusion, Vitamix prioritizes customer safety by issuing a voluntary recall for blender components with potential safety risks. Owners are urged to take immediate action by checking if their products are affected and following the necessary steps to secure a free repair kit for their Vitamix blenders.
