In a stunning victory, Weslaco High Panthers secured a state softball title with a walk-off grand slam, defeating Waco Midway in the Class 6A championship game. Trailing 9-3 in the seventh inning, the Panthers staged an incredible comeback led by sophomore shortstop Andrea Ortiz. Her grand slam not only secured the first state softball championship for Weslaco High but also marked a historic moment as the first girls' sporting program in Valley history to claim the title.
