Viral Hemorrhagic Fever Outbreak Tips: How to Stay Healthy During Marburg Virus Disease Outbreak in Rwanda

Rwandan health government are escalate outbreak control attempt following the detection of Marburg virus disease in the state. Currently, there are 26 confirm case and six report death. The case have been report in seven out of 30 district in Rwanda. Twenty case are in isolation and receive treatment, while 161 person who come into contact with the report case are being monitor. The government are step up response measure and investigation the beginning of the infection.

In support of the attempt, the World Health Organization ( WHO ) is mobilize expertness and outbreak response tool, include emergency checkup supply, to aid reinforce control measure against the virus. A cargo of clinical care and infection prevention supply is being fix and will be deliver to Kigali from WHOs Emergency Response Hub in Nairobi, Kenya. Dr. Matshidiso Moeti, WHO Regional Director for Africa, state that critical outbreak response aspect are being set in gesture to support Rwanda in swiftly and effectively halt the spread of the virus.

WHO is also organize attempt to strengthen collaborative cross-boundary_line measure with neighbor state to guarantee timely detection and control of the virus. Marburg virus disease is highly deadly, with a fatality ratio of up to 88%. It cause hemorrhagic fever and is in the Lapp family as the Ebola virus. The virus is convey to world from fruit bat and spread through direct contact with infect person bodily fluid, surface, and materials.
