Exciting Week of Celebrations in Albert Lea

Albert Lea is gearing up for an exciting Fourth of July celebration in 2024. The festivities will kick off with the July Jamboree on July 3, featuring food vendors and a mobile sign shop at Central Park. The highlight of the celebrations will be the annual Third of July Parade at the Freeborn County Fairgrounds, with the theme "Dancing in the Streets: Celebrating Community Successes." The parade will feature the Albert Lea dance team as this year's grand marshals.

Music, Food, and Fun

Throughout the week, there will be live performances, block parties, and a car show in downtown Albert Lea. Dariel will be performing live at 112 on Broadway, followed by a block party with DJ KB at Harolds Bar. Food vendors will be available on the Fourth of July, along with cruises on the Pelican Breeze II on Albert Lea Lake. The Bayside Water Ski Club will also have a performance on Edgewater Bay, and the Albert Lea Community Band will entertain audiences at the Fountain Lake Park Gazebo.

Fireworks Display

One of the highlights of the celebration will be the fireworks display at dusk on the Fourth of July. The fireworks will be launched from a new location on city property west of the Blazing Star Landing between Fountain and Albert Lea lakes. Organizers have moved the location to ensure safety compliance with the state code and improve visibility for spectators. Food vendors will be available at Frank Hall Park to accommodate residents watching the fireworks on that side.

Continued Festivities

The celebrations will continue on July 5 with a flea market at the Freeborn County Fairgrounds, food vendors, and a street dance at 112 on Broadway. On July 6, the Albert Lea Farmers Market will be open, and a boat parade will take place on Fountain Lake. The week will conclude with an indoor concert at the Marion Ross Performing Arts Center. The flea market will also run on Sunday for those looking to enjoy some last-minute shopping.

With a diverse range of activities planned, Albert Lea residents and visitors can look forward to an entertaining week of celebrations in honor of Independence Day. From parades and live music to fireworks and food vendors, there will be something for everyone to enjoy as the community comes together to celebrate this special holiday.
