The UK-based start-up Nyobolt has recently conducted a successful test with an electric car battery that can charge in under five minutes. During a live demonstration, a Nyobolt battery charged from 10% to 80% in just four minutes and 37 seconds. This achievement was made with a specially-built concept sports car on a test track in Bedford, showing the potential for faster charging times in Electric vehicles (EVs). In comparison, a Tesla supercharger typically takes 15-20 minutes to charge a car battery to 80%.
The Nyobolt EV Prototype, weighing 2,750 pounds, has a range of 155 miles and features a battery that can charge from 10% to 80% in just 4 minutes and 37 seconds. This charging time adds 120 miles of range, double the fastest charging speeds currently available in production vehicles. The battery pack, a 50 Amp-hour, 35 Kilowatt-hour pack, has been tested extensively and shown to be fast-charging and resistant to degradation, lasting over 600,000 miles of real-world use.
The Nyobolt battery has the potential to revolutionize the electric vehicle industry by offering fast-charging capabilities and long-lasting performance. With an emphasis on scalability and readiness, Nyobolt aims to enable the electrification of new products and services that were previously considered unfeasible. The innovative battery technology showcased in the Nyobolt EV Prototype is a testament to the company's commitment to driving change in the automotive industry towards faster and more sustainable electric vehicles.
