Revolutionizing Smartphone Industry with AI Innovations

Most companies are integrating AI into their services, with Honor focusing on human-centric on-device AI. During the MWC Shanghai 2024 keynote, Honor unveiled two new AI features: AI Deepfake Detection and AI Defocus Eye Protection. The AI Deepfake Detection tool can examine videos frame-by-frame to detect AI-generated content based on various factors such as eye contact, lighting, image clarity, and video playback. If a deepfake is detected, a popup alert will be generated, warning users of a potential scam.

AI Deepfake Detection is currently limited to video calls but could expand to scan all videos, especially on social media platforms like X, TikTok, Facebook, and Instagram. Honor's CEO, George Zhao, emphasized the importance of on-device AI in delivering tailored services to users. The AI Defocus Eye Protection feature aims to improve eye health by reducing nearsightedness caused by prolonged screen use. By simulating defocus glasses on the display, the technology can help maintain clear central vision and slow down eye elongation, potentially decreasing transient myopia by up to 13 degrees.

Introducing Cutting-Edge AI Technologies

AI Innovations: Latest Honor Gadgets Launch

At the Mobile World Congress in Shanghai, Honor introduced two groundbreaking AI-based innovations: AI Defocus Eye Protection and AI Deepfake Detection. The AI Defocus Eye Protection technology mimics defocus glasses on the device's screen to induce controlled defocus in the peripheral visual field, slowing down the process of eye elongation and reducing nearsightedness. Honor claims that users experienced an average reduction of 13 degrees in transient myopia after reading for 25 minutes, showcasing the effectiveness of the technology in promoting eye health.

AI Deepfake Detection is another key feature that aims to prevent fraud and detect digitally manipulated content by analyzing various aspects of generated content. By examining factors like eye contact, image clarity, lighting, and video playback, the technology can identify flaws that are imperceptible to the human eye. Trained on a large dataset of images and videos related to online scams, the AI can quickly identify and flag manipulated content, providing users with a risk warning to avoid potential scammers.

Artificial intelligence is reshaping the smartphone industry, with companies like Honor leading the way with innovative AI-powered solutions. By leveraging on-device AI, Honor is empowering users with personalized services and cutting-edge technologies that enhance their overall experience. As these AI features are expected to roll out on Honor's flagship smartphones and upcoming devices, users can look forward to a new era of intelligent and intuitive mobile technologies that prioritize user well-being and security.
