Protein Sciences in Drug Discovery 2024: Tips for Advancing Innovation - Health

The European Laboratory Research & Innovation Group (ELRIG) UK has teamed up with The Protein Society (TPS) for a joint conference on Protein Sciences in Drug Discovery. This collaboration aims to bring experts together to explore how emerging protein science can tackle the challenges in drug discovery. ELRIG UK, known for delivering top-notch scientific conferences, and TPS, an international scholarly society dedicated to advancing protein research, will create an interdisciplinary forum for collaboration and knowledge exchange among scientists from academia, biopharma, and CROs.

Protein Sciences in Drug Discovery 2024 will be held from 1819 November at Hinxton Hall Conference Centre in Cambridge, UK. The event will cover topics such as high-throughput protein expression, antigen generation for antibody and vaccine discovery, analytical techniques for protein quality assessment, and the use of cryogenic electron microscopy (cryo-EM) in assessing druggability. The conference will also feature sequence-based predictive methods, poster presentations, networking sessions, and a vendor exhibition. Travel bursaries will be available for early career professionals attending the event.

Melanie Leveridge, Chair of ELRIG UK and Vice President of Discovery Biology at AstraZeneca, stated that the collaboration aims to provide a platform for academia and industry to exchange knowledge, support innovation, and foster collaboration across the life science community.

Prof Elizabeth Meiering, president of The Protein Society and professor at the University of Waterloo, expressed excitement about launching this interdisciplinary event with ELRIG, providing an opportunity to share the latest advances in protein science and how they can be applied to support drug discovery.
