The Norton Museum of Art in Palm Beach County will be hosting its annual Juneteenth Community Day on Saturday, June 15, from 11 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. This event aims to celebrate freedom and highlight the African-American experience through various activities such as live musical performances, dance, gallery talks, storytelling, and art-making. Ghislain dHumires, the Museum's Kenneth C. Griffin Director and CEO, expressed the importance of community days in welcoming both old and new friends while providing additional context to the art being presented.

In addition to the interactive activities, Spotlight Tours will be organized to showcase works by African-American artists in the Norton Museum's collection. Attendees can also browse through an artisan market featuring local talent and participate in the Open Studio to create their art. Furthermore, Palm Beach County residents can enjoy free admission to the Museum on Saturdays until September 4, while West Palm Beach residents receive free admission on Saturdays throughout the year.

On the same day, the Juneteenth of Palm Beach County Festival will also be taking place at the Meyer Amphitheater, offering a unique celebration of culture and history. The festival, founded in 2020 by Sakina Kelly and Brittney McAfee, serves as a platform for the community to commemorate their achievements and history. Over the years, the festival has played a pivotal role in promoting cultural awareness and bringing the community together to celebrate their heritage. The upcoming event on the 15th promises to be an exciting day filled with art, local artists, and a tribute to five influential men in the community.

The festival is open to all ages and will run from 3 to 9 p.m. Tickets are available for free on Eventbrite.com, allowing attendees to join in the festivities and honor the legacy of Juneteenth. The event serves as a testament to the rich cultural tapestry of Palm Beach County, offering residents and visitors a chance to engage with history, art, and community in a vibrant and inclusive setting.
