A treasure trove of prehistoric discovery was made by a Florida man while diving along the coast of the Sunshine State. Lundberg, a marine biology graduate from the University of South Florida, uncovered an ancient mastodon tusk during a fossil scavenging expedition off Manasota Key, about 90 miles south of Tampa. The relic, found in April, has not been dated yet and could potentially be millions of years old. Lundberg, who has been scuba diving for 12 years and a fossil hunter since childhood, described the find as 'very rare' due to its large and well-preserved nature. American Mastodons, which went extinct around 10,500 years ago, have been discovered in various locations across North America and Central America.
