A recent study conducted by ISACA revealed a concerning trend in organizations' approach to digital trust. The report highlighted a significant gap between the acknowledgment of the importance of digital trust and concrete actions taken to strengthen it. According to the State of Digital Trust 2024 report, 87% of respondents considered digital trust to be extremely or very important, yet only 66% stated that their organizations prioritize digital trust in a manner that aligns with its significance. This disparity between belief and action underscores the challenges faced by organizations in safeguarding their customers, stakeholders, and partners in the digital age.

Despite the widespread acknowledgment of digital trust's significance, many organizations struggle to implement initiatives that reflect this understanding. The ISACA survey, which gathered insights from nearly 6,000 digital trust professionals worldwide, emphasized the difficulty organizations face in defining and measuring digital trust. Safia Kazi, ISACA principal specializing in privacy professional practices, noted that the subjective nature of digital trust contributes to inconsistent perceptions and actions among organizations, further complicating efforts to enhance cybersecurity measures.
