Chinese Scientists Develop Fatal Virus Mimicking Ebola Symptoms

China's researchers have engineered a new virus that replicates Ebola symptoms and can lead to death within three days. The study carried out at Hebei Medical University aims to gain a deeper understanding of the deadly virus. By modifying vesicular stomatitis virus (VSV) with Ebola glycoprotein, the team successfully induced severe symptoms in hamsters, mirroring human Ebola patients. The creation of this model offers a safer method for studying the virus's effects in lower-security labs. The research paves the way for quicker development of Ebola vaccines and treatments, although it raises ethical concerns about creating such a deadly virus.
